A sip of your brand: what to print on the coffee foam?

Three cappuccinos with a heart, a star and a leaf printed on the foam

There is surprisingly little room on top of a cappuccino for a full marketing strategy. And that is actually good news. The small surface forces you to pick the one thing you really want to show: a mark, a sentence or an idea that connects to the event.

With the Print My Drink service, the drink print can be a brand identity detail and a personal surprise at the same time. For the best result, however, it’s worth thinking differently than when you design a poster or a presentation.

A logo is a good start, but which version?

An elaborate crest with a three-line slogan underneath may look lovely on a website. On top of a drink, though, the proportions are very different. Here a simpler emblem or the shorter brand name can be the stronger choice.

It’s worth preparing several versions: the full logo, a simplified variant and a standalone emblem. The actual pattern should be chosen together with the provider and checked on a test print. What reads well on a monitor can look different on the foam surface.

Sometimes a good sentence says more

"Nice to have you here." At a guest-welcoming event that alone can be a kind gesture. At a product launch it could be a short campaign message, and at an internal company day a phrase everyone recognizes.

The point is that the text must be understandable at first glance. If it needs explanation, or the guest has to turn the cup to read it, it’s worth simplifying. A short message doesn’t have to be grand to feel personal.

It can be a game too

Imagine a booth where, at the end of a short quiz, the participant receives a playful result: “Idea Generator”, “Explorer” or “Strategist”. That word can appear on the drink too, if you coordinate the pattern selection and the serving process in advance.

Here the print already connects to what the guest has just experienced. Such an idea works well if it is clear at the counter which prepared pattern corresponds to which result.

Give the graphic some breathing room

The drink surface is not a regular sheet of paper. The foam, the cup size and the printing method used all influence the final result. Give the main motif space, and don’t fill the last millimetre with tiny details.

The drink type, the suitable surface and preparing the graphic are therefore always matters to agree on together. That way it becomes clear during the design phase which idea will become a truly beautiful print.

If you would like to see your brand on the top of a drink, send the logo or the message idea when requesting an offer from Print My Drink. It’s worth starting from a strong, simple motif.
